The narrator, an eight-year-old boy meets, in May 1968, in his provincial town, another boy a little older than him. They will become friends, then friends. Very quickly develops between them an exclusive, insatiable, fusional, loving relationship, which will unravel, a few years later, following a betrayal. Over time the pain becomes a phantom pain and this heartache will now be experienced by the narrator who became a teenager as a rite of passage. A sentimental education.
