She's not Whitney Houston.
And...lesbians don't kiss, they rub noses.
Nothing quite like treating your audience as if they were complete and utter buffoons. Did we mention...she doesn't sing a note in the entire film. Yet, the film is all about her incredible gawd-given voice. Just when she's about to let it all out, CUT! Moving on...
Instead, we are served numerous clips of yesteryear's divas, including an impenetrable performance by Ella Fitzgerald and that gawd-awful 'Jesus Is a Love Song'.
Call it fan fiction...call it what you want, Lena Waithe has written a shabby, unofficial bio-pic without any disguise whatsoever. Duh!
It all boils down to being a cauldron of bible-bashing, greed, jealousy and nose-rubbing...with the nose-rubbing being the only creative and imaginative aspect to this whole feckless folly.
