CGiii Comment

Series 3...features a lesbian couple!

Shetland goes to Glasgow and overstays its welcome. Talk about a long, drawn-out affair...this could have been easily cut down to 4 episodes instead of the weary 6 that it is...he supporting cast (i.e the other police officers), and there is no better way to say this...they are all terrible actors.

Ciarán Hinds, Archie Panjabi and James Cosmo have guest appearances...and they all act the socks off everyone else on the screen...apart from Douglas Henshall who does a credible job...but, it's obvious he's struggling to carry this show on his own.

The direction is flat and uninspired...where's the tension? Where's the mystery?

And...as for the editor, too, too many [annoying] cuts - especially with the conversations: there's no need to cut to the person speaking...all the time!

The production team need to sit down and have a long un-cut chat about their baby. Shetland should stay in Shetland. The supporting cast (and the editor) need to be fired. The writer(s) need a brutal (and effective) script editor. And, finally, get more fine actors of the Hinds, Panjabi, Cosmo ilk...use them to full effect!

And then, dear production team, you may have a damn fine show you could all be proud of...
