CGiii Comment

In these daft, politically correct times...when antagonism is consistently confused with activism (or, vice versa)...LGBT cinema has suffered as a result...the edge has been blunted...

Well, babies...as unexpected as it was and as refreshing as it is...Guidance is like the sword of Damocles...to those sofa-surfing, moaning activists...and, to the film industry itself.

Pat Mills has an axe to grind...and, halle-bloody-lujah...he takes no prisoners. Sharp as a knife, this anti-hero goes straight for the jugular...

Offensive, certainly. Funny, most definitely. Mills combines the tragedy and comedy with an assured dexterity...a lovable repugnant?!? You just want to pinch his cheeks...and then slap him.

Our only complaints: it could have been longer, it could have hit harder...but, it's still a damn fine film that bites...the hand that feeds it.

Child stars...be aware...the sun may be shining now...but, tomorrow and obscurity are only a day awaaaaay. Tomorrow, tomorrow...

The(ir) Blurb...

David Gore, 36, a pathologically immature former child actor, has never been able to get over high school. Today, he was just diagnosed with skin cancer and got fired from the last acting gig he could get. Desperate for money and with nothing else to lose, he fakes his resume, and gets a job as a high school guidance counselor. The students of Grusin High love him – it might be because he drinks and smokes with them. But this is just the beginning of his downward spiral. When he meets Jabrielle, a teenaged outcast who’s just as screwed up as he is, he might learn that in the company of teenagers, sometimes you can go too far, especially when it comes to committing a ridiculous crime.
