Susan was born with both male and female sex organs. When she was five months old, her parents decided that she would be a female. It took until she was 35 for her to find this out.

The medical establishment takes the position that everyone must be one or the other: male or female. Susan, on the other hand, has determined that this division is the result of utilitarian social considerations, and that there is no way – certainly not surgical – to force this division on intersex individuals.

This film follows two compelling storylines. One is the story of Susan and her social activism. The other is the story of Ofer, another intersex individual, whose story is an inspiring mirror image of hers. The film follows Susan on her inner journey and her social crusade, examining whether she will manage to define her place in society.
