CGiii Comment

This is a marathon...of misandry.

It's fair to say...Ms Mabry hates men...but, to balance the books...the women aren't exactly saintly either.

There is no light and shade to this story...unrelenting gloom prevails from beginning to end.

As a comment on (this) society...it's the bleakest of bleak. A never-ending circle of addiction, abuse...annihilation. The only way out...death (or prison).

But...there is a slight chink of light...education...a storyline that was sadly squandered. Obviously, too positive for the downbeat.

The lesbian strand...a horror unto itself...possessive, obsessive...bordering on the criminal.

It's not a terrible film, by any stretch of the imagination. The performances are all pretty good...technically, no quibbles.

It's the writing...if this is all Ms Mabry has to say...it's deeply worrying. Angry woman...she most certainly is...painting with daubs of despair.

Still, she had her chance to say it, on the biggest canvas...she hasn't said a whole lot since. Maybe, that is all Ms Mabry had to say.
