CGiii Comment

It does present an incredibly important message - shake up those old taboos.

Unfortunately, it does it in such an unlikeable way.

A litany of odious characters: the mother and son are utterly detestable.

The story takes giant leaps of faith which makes it difficult to actually connect with anything that is going on.

With a few cuts, the string especially (ridiculous idea), the nightclub scene, the beach scene (redundant comedy) - the film would have benefited enormously.

A re-casting of the male lead and, maybe, there could have been an important film.

Malik has a lot on his plate when he returns home to Tunisia after living in France. He's processing his father's death, he can't come out to his mother, and his childhood anxieties have resurfaced. But all of Malik's problems seem to fade away when he falls for Bilal, the dreamy houseboy at his mother's bourgeois estate.
