Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye (The)

Country: United Kingdom, Language: English, 65 mins

  • Director: Marie Losier
  • Producer: Steve Holmgren; Marie Losier

CGiii Comment

Performance art - usually - is divided into two distinct fields: The intriguing and the intolerable.

Genesis is - most definitely - fully entrenched in the latter. A silly, self-important little (wo)man who has overly polluted this world with his redundant debris...everything for effect - sadly, the 'effect' is like a blink of the eye...gone, instantly.

The 'music' is noise pollution and the art is litter...the only things that will last are the breast implants.

As a film, Losier shows no competence...this is jump-cut hell, without structure, without a shred of technical know-how...this is not the love-story of two people, this is 65 minutes of a tortuous, misguided ego.
