At a London bus stop, a fractured love story unfolds across a non-linear timeline of passion, betrayal and longing. When Deena, a married professor grieving the loss of her youth to motherhood meets Malik, a trans graduate student searching for love, family, and reinvention, their connection feels inevitable. Bound by intellect, Black radical politics, and fantasies of partnership, the two begin an affair that offers them both the possibility of becoming who they've always imagined themselves to be. But love alone cannot outrun the realities of marriage, ambition, aging, and desire. As tender moments collide with devastating arguments, May the Road Rise Up to Meet You asks: how do two people made for each other still fall apart? Set within the liminal space of a bus stop, the film becomes a meditation on queer intimacy, chosen family, and the desperate human need to find home in another person.
