Letter to Myself (A)
Original Title
lettre à moi-même- Director: Omar Gabriel
CGiii Comment
Writing to oneself. Choosing the words, putting them down, validating them. To exist, to feel certain. To speak to oneself, to others, to the world. Through these words, the camera follows seven Lebanese LGBTQI+ individuals, capturing their vulnerabilities, hopes, and perseverance in a society that marginalizes them and offers little more than obstacles. Sparked by the explosion at the port of Beirut and the fear of regret - ”of not having spoken without fear”—Omar Gabriel, a Lebanese queer artist, picks up his camera to reveal faces, document stories, and touch hearts in the hope of fostering understanding.
