CGiii Comment

Possibly...best suited to being a mini-series rather than a whopping 169 minute feature. Mainly...because, the film is episodic...each character gets their 'time' of discovery. It really does come across as a filmed video-game...with youthful flashbacks. Think: Jumanji with more horrible bits and [too many] CGI monsters...yes, you read that right...not just a mad clown...but, a smörgåsbord of meat-munching monstrosities!

So...if you are a fan of the book and/or the original mini-series [when they got it right, way back in 1990], you're going to be sorely disappointed. It really is bamboozling when an author of Stephen King's standing...allows his work to be massacred by a hatchet and a computer geek [or two]. But...when the cheque is big enough!

Costing [a mere] $79,000,000...and, grossing over $472,000,000 - this 'chapter' has delivered everything that the producers wanted it to deliver: Money! As for customer satisfaction...well, if you are 'new' to It you may well be entertained. But...it's [paying] bums on seats that counts!

It's 27 years later and The Loser's Club have grown into dysfunctional adults...some survive, some succeed, one stays where he has always been...and, all struggle with their own personal demons as well as the ones thrown at them throughout the film. What a miserable - aptly named - bunch they are...obviously, there's got to be a [self-hating] gay one...and, there is...and, he's a comedian! Hilarious? No.

Look...It is all over the place, everything is thrown at the screen. It's generational, kids will surely love it...but, if it's the [original] psychological thrill-fest that you're after: Read the book.
