CGiii Comment

Squawking and squealing - a typical Altman cacophony - with the wandering camera.

It's shot on one set - possibly, preserving the restriction of the stage play, it does comes over as claustrophobic and stifling - just like the little town it's set in.

The story is almost beyond a joke and as predictable as the fate of an unlanced boil - painful, ugly and explosive - just like the performances.

You'll either love it or hate it - the sentimentality is contrived (just like the script) - all it is, really...is a vehicle for some fine actresses to show off without rhyme or reason.

The film itself stinks - yet another example of nonsense from the over-rated Altman.
