CGiii Comment

Inspired by the eponymous song and featuring a few other ditties by George Michael...be warned, this is not a musical [like Sunshine on Leith]...but, it is an absolute festive delight...that will warm the cockles of your heart.

Co-written by Emma Thompson...she certainly likes to throw in her own views and politics. Digs and pokes about immigration and Brexit, discrimination and equality, homelessness and loneliness...thankfully, she does it all without being [too] over-bearing or preachy. Although, there is one scene that will make your skin crawl and one other that will smack you square on the face.

There is a significant lesbian storyline [of course there is, what film nowadays doesn't have a lesbian or two?]...but, hey, it's a sweet little story that serves as a turning point!

Henry Goulding [charm-on-legs] and Emilia [dragonless] Clarke have all the chemistry needed for the potential and expected passion. Michelle Yeoh's Santa is a class act...and, Patti Lupone - with suckling cherubs, is brief but hilarious.

It's everything you would want [and a little bit more] from a Christmas film...and then - just when you least expect it...it delivers an emotional, jaw-dropping, knockout punch!

Oooh...this will certainly resonate.

RIP George & Melanie...
