Querelle

Country: West Germany | France, Language: German, 108 mins

  • Director: Rainer Werner Fassbinder
  • Writer: Jean Genet; Rainer Werner Fassbinder
  • Producer: Michael McLernon; Dieter Schidor

CGiii Comment

Fassbinder's last - and, possibly, most divisive film.

What a stylised way to end such an influential career.

Lurid colour, choreographed lighting, enigmatic and voyeuristic stages - he came a very long way - a masterpiece to those who appreciate evolution.

And, sad farewells to some great talents.
