Alya is a 14-year old girl who lives in an orphanage in a small Northern Russian town. She is a very shy person and faces difficulties interacting with others. Svetlana is a middle aged elegant and kind woman, who teaches music in the school where Alya studies. Nadeghda is a very grumpy lady, who works as a principal of the school and has prejudice against children from the orphanage. Alya and Svetlana establish a connection where both of them find what they needed: Alya is happy that there is a person who sees her differently and cares about her, and Svetlana feels that her work gives a very positive result. The moment when Svetlana stands up for Alya in front of Nadeghda leads to a surprising event: Alya expresses her admiration towards Svtelana and kisses her in the lips, which radically changes their relationship.
