Fiore - In Love with Clay

Country: USA, Language: English, 79 mins

  • Director: Richard Whymark

CGiii Comment

Internationally-renowned artist Fiore De Henriquez sculpted the Queen Mother, Peter Ustinov, Igor Stravinsky, Oprah Winfrey, Prime Minister Yoshida and John F. Kennedy among many others. But there was more to Fiore than sculpture, drawing and architecture. While battling with—and eventually accepting—her intersexuality, duality became a prominent theme in her art, her life and her explosive love affairs.

Fiore was a force of nature.

While not sculpting the rich and famous, she built Peralta—an artists’ commune on a Tuscan hillside.

"Fiore: In Love with Clay" examines her art and relationships through the eyes of those closest to her. Her friends and foes recount the life of a funny, fiery and deeply damaged soul.
