Duk-jae's life is a mess. His boss is younger than him and treats him badly. Duk-jae gets drunk to drown his sorrows and when he gets home his wife, Mi-ja, does not let him into the bedroom. Mi-ja is obsessed by the lives of celebrities and spends all her time watching the TV shopping channel and compulsively buying products related to her idols. Duk-jae would like at least to talk with his daughter, Jung-ah, but she also turns on the TV to avoid any conversation with her father.

One day, his job takes Duk-jae to a drag queen bar called Hawaii to talk about the lease. There he meets Seung-joon, the transsexual who runs the establishment. Seung-joon becomes fascinated by Duk-jae because the older man reminds him of his late father... From now on, everything will change in the lives of both Duk-jae and his dysfunctional family. A hilarious, entertaining mad-cap comedy, Dad Is Pretty is also a good example of the new Korean cinema and how the profile of the LGBT community is rising more and more in the Land of the Morning Calm.
