CGiii Comment

Eat figs and...poof - you're no longer gay!

It is fair to point out that this film is concerned with an extreme form of Judaism. Just like every religion, the extremists are both the destroyers and conservators of their doctrine.

The one lasting impression that this film leaves you with is the shock of brainwashing - the gay people who still want to be part of this have simply not been debriefed nor 'de-conditioned'.

Religion incurs so much hate and anger...rather than reject the hypocrisy - most of us bend and cower under their ridiculous doctrines...as misfits, as miscreants - we have rebeled - but, alas, there are those [of us] who continue to bend and cower. Give them strength.

This is a stunning insight into a world that few see or understand.

It's a sad film - a sad, difficult world.

There will always be deranged people no matter what religion they bow to.

A fine example of documentary making.

The(ir) Blurb...

Built around intimately-told personal stories of Hasidic and Orthodox Jews who are gay or lesbian, the film portrays a group of people who face a profound dilemma - how to reconcile their passionate love of Judaism and the Divine with the drastic Biblical prohibitions that forbids homosexuality.
