Max was assigned a girl at birth but has transitioned into a transgender boy. Bastian was assigned a boy at birth, but mostly identifies as a girl. Max and Bastian struggle with their developing bodies and are considering whether they should stop their puberty with hormone treatment. A life-changing choice is becoming more and more urgent as they race against time to make the right decision. Their voices are changing. Their bodies are developing, but the consequences of hormone treatment are irreversible. How do you find out who you are in the middle of the greatest transition of your life? “It’s Always Been Me” shows the honest and sometimes hard struggle when fighting against a heteronormative society that continues to discriminate against transgender people.
