CGiii Comment

What is it about Divas and bad men?!?

She was a gay icon...and, still is...in France. Worldwide, she has sold over 170 million records, spanning a career of 30 years. That career ended with her suicide in 1987.

She went from one disasterous relationship...straight right into another one! Her choice in men...well, let's just say, she could have done better...much, much better. Or, she couldn't have chosen worse! Three [of her exes] committed suicide!

Her thirst for success propelled her through quite a few re-inventions of herself...Madonna took note! But...the similarities between Dalida and others - who fell apart - is mind-blowing. Amy, Whitney et al.

Sveva Alviti does Dalida...proud. Lisa Azuelos showers Dalida...with respect. A powerful performance directed by an obvious affection. Albeit tragic, this film is a fine and fitting tribute to a remarkable woman.

"La vie m'est insupportable... Pardonnez-moi."
