CGiii Comment

Families Like Ours bears no resemblance to families like ours. But, as a political football...it has the best strikers in the business. The 'family' that is the European Union gets an absolute lambasting. Finland is, still, the happiest country in the world...but, Poland, Romania and France get it in the neck...especially Poland! With nasty neighbours, Russia, coming a close second.

What becomes of the patriot when they have no country to stand upon? A refugee without portfolio! Never to be offered the chance of repatriation...cherry-picked by the fostering erstwhile countries, once considered brothers-in-arms-and-law. Think on, MacDuff! Ponder this at your peril...and, as terrifying as it sounds, the true terror is that this sits, uncomfortably, within the realm of possibility.

As believable as this story is, the plot-holes contained herein could sink a nuclear sub...where is a good script editor when you need one? Numerous and 'large' pinches of salt are required to make it through to the end. More fact-checking, less naivete would have been better places to start from...

This family, unlike ours, are the doyen of Danish society...yet, they make the most disastrous decisions possible. Between the sprawling-estate-dwelling gay couple and their ditzy niece, the amount of lives decimated by their incomprehensible actions and choices are worthy of many outbursts of screaming-at-the-screen. It is exhausting to watch.

But, what keeps you watching is...Man's propensity...to be cruel, kind, savage and stupid...and, in the face of such adversity...to survive, no matter what. With or without portfolio, refugee status is not what you think. Think on!
