CGiii Comment

Not exactly the trip of a lifetime...but, a trip that will change the course for two lives...unexpectedly so!

Prim and proper encounters [and is stuck with] debauched and deranged...for a couple of days and nights in a rickety old sleeping compartment on a rickety old train, staffed by a terrifying Russian matriarch. What could possibly go wrong? Well, just about everything...unpredictably so!

The ice inside the compartment - slowly - begins to thaw. Opposites attract and you can't get more opposite than these two! Academic lesbian versus bullish brute!

Yuriy Borisov delivers a performance that defies compartmentalising...he's disgusting, he's charming, he's a thug, he's caring...he's everyone's bad boy and you know what they say about bad boys!?! But...will this bad boy's allure be lost on this sapphic swot? He certainly has his work cut out for him...nothing quite like a challenge!

There is one scene which is pure physical comedy...it's at that point, we see the true boy - it's both hysterical and utterly endearing...and, paves the way for an extraordinary journey and relationship.

This is a double act quite like no other, nothing is played for laughs. This is a journey like no other, all aboard the Arctic Express, freezing! It's neither a comedy nor a drama nor even a romance. This is travelogue at its very, very best...for those who have really travelled, this film will bring back all those mad, bad and fab people you met along the way. Some even stick! Just like this film...it sticks!

As cold as it is...it will - most certainly - warm the cockles of the iciest of hearts.
