CGiii Comment

In today's current climate...it seems that the voice of the older gay gentleman is ignored/disregarded/derided...by those who know or will experience less than those who lived through the decades when homosexuality was a crime...punishable by death, prison, chemical castration...

That collective voice paved the way...so, to hear Rupert Everett talk is as refreshing as a cool breeze on a rather stuffy day...he, and many others like him, do not believe in the whole gay marriage thing...

We have come a long way, thanks to all those elderly voices...the young have to accept those voices, they have to accept that 'their' way of life is incomparable to 'their' way of life...not all of us want to mimic the heterosexual template...!

As Mr Everett so boldly recounts...once upon a time, being 'gay' was exciting...it had its risks...but, by god, did it made you feel special!?!

Goodbye Bohemia and all those who sailed on her...

Hello corporate gay!

The(ir) Blurb...

In this documentary, Rupert Everett delivers his personal and frank take on the developments in gay life in Britain since the decriminalisation of homosexuality 50 years ago. Rupert meets LGBT people of all ages and walks of life, from former royal butler Paul Burrell to the lesbian community of Hebden Bridge, and explores with them how the LGBT experience has changed on the journey towards the mainstream. Huge progress has been made - but has something of the edge and distinctiveness of gay identity also been lost?
