Two-Spirit People

Country: USA, Language: English, 20 mins

  • Director: Michel Beauchemin; Lori Levy

CGiii Comment

A bunch of people talk about something that they don't fully understand. It's all very well going on about historical two-spirits scenarios...what about today???

The filmmaker - unwisely - fails to present any of the talking heads' credentials. They could be anyone...spouting nonsense. Much of this...sounds like nonsense.

An overview of historical and contemporary Native American concepts of gender, sexuality and sexual orientation. This documentary explores the berdache tradition in Native American culture, in which individuals who embody feminine and masculine qualities act as a conduit between the physical and spiritual world, and because of this are placed in positions of power within the community.
