CGiii Comment

Wow...this will certainly have people screaming at the screen - a very divisive film indeed.

Harry McEntire's bravery, in taking the part on, is thoroughly commendable - and, he pulls it off.

Christian Cooke's good-looks would easily sway anyone into his bed - with or without conditions - and, his performance is rather compelling.

The problem...a hugely bold and controversial idea - is, lamentably, let-down by inadequate writing and simplistic, one-tier direction.

There is a natural and perfect ending about 20 minutes from the lacklustre denouement that is given...with a little re-working, a bit more depth this could have been a sensation.

The talent was there in front of the screen...but, with the limitations of a television director and a writer who lacked the balls to take his story to another level, Unconditional will remain largely unseen. This is a classic case of under-estimating the intended audience.

It's worth a look - for the performance and how a massive potential was squandered.

The(ir) Blurb...

A loan shark, Liam, calls on his customers: a disabled mother and two teens, Kristen and Owen. Kristen flirts with him, but Liam's passion is for the naive Owen. Owen goes along with the shark's gender-bending fetish, creating a conflict with his coming-of-age.
