CGiii Comment

A big(gish) name in a little film...Ricci has to be commended.

A familiar tale...of race relations, poverty and a teacher who sets out to change the world. It is a little predictable and underdeveloped and, alas, somewhat trite in its philosophical meanderings - unnecessary to say the least.

With less of the soporific drivel and more grit - the result would have 10 times more effective.

A decent little film...sadly, lacking that a vital spark - consistent energy.

But, it does pack an emotional wallop and shows a mighty amount of promise...on behalf of the director.

The(ir) Blurb...

"AROUND THE BLOCK" is about breaking family and cultural cycles for a hopeful future. A contemporary story of love, revenge, and triumph, an Aboriginal boy becomes torn between his unexpected love of acting and the disintegration of his family.
