Kaleidoscope

Country: United Arab Emirates | Germany , Language: Arabic, 24 mins

  • Director: Ammar Al Beik
  • Writer: Ammar Al Beik

CGiii Comment

When Ammar meets his former mistress Marie, they decide to spend the night together at his apartment in Paris. Laying on the bed, we sense their distress: while Marie is worried about her career as an actress because of her ambitions, Ammar the photojournalist is becoming increasingly obsessed with the news from Syria, from which he just returned two days earlier, where he was covering the ongoing war in Aleppo.

Setting off from reality, blending it inside a metropolitan tale, al-Beik carries on a bold discussion about the artists’ duties, thus the art’s one, in our society. An examination on art’s muddying by middle-class comfort.
