Mexico City, 1997. Two brothers, Alejandro and Octavio, gather on Christmas Eve with their wives and children. It would be a potentially joyful and festive occasion, were it not for the underlying disagreements between the four adults: in front of the naive energy of their children and under the scrutiny of the intrusive housekeepers, a horrifying game of carnage begins, digging deeper and deeper, threatening to lead to an irreparable rift.
A sharp and merciless exploration of the daily horrors of a heteronormative family unit that, under the guise of decency, sweeps abuse and control under the rug. New director Racornelia Ezell uses the amateurish language of home video to create a hypnotic, ambiguous, and desecrating dimension, while dramatic tensions grow unbearably high.
