For many years, Cristina and La Bonita have worked as cooks on merchant ships sailing the Peruvian Amazon. Today, they seem to be naturally embedded in the local landscape and social fabric, but being transgender still poses a challenge to local customs, convictions and beliefs. Each protagonist tries to reconcile their identity with functioning in a community - be it a family or a religious community - in their own way. We watch them in their everyday lives, as they work, play and take care of others, as well as long for each other and talk dirty. This intimate portrait is intertwined with a colorful picture of the local culture.

Explora las historias de Cristina y La Bonita, dos cocineras trans que han trabajado durante décadas en barcos de carga que recorren los ríos de la Amazonía peruana. Frente a presiones personales y sociales, ambas han comenzado a destransicionar: Cristina, para cumplir una promesa hecha a su madre fallecida, y La Bonita, por temor a arder para siempre en el infierno.
