Getting Go: The Go Doc Project

Country: USA, Language: English, 91 mins

  • Director: Cory James Krueckeberg
  • Writer: Cory James Krueckeberg
  • Producer: Kate Burgess; Neil Eckersley

CGiii Comment

It has all the trappings and none of the talent usually associated with a student film.

Split screen, jump cuts, bad music, out of focus, weak story, lousy writing, terrible camera-work...the list is endless.

The video diary approach was definitely the wrong avenue to pursue.

With nothing to say and a clear lack of vision, Krueckeberg should seriously re-consider his career as an auteur...or, expect a similar lambasting from more disgruntled viewers.

Distinctly amateur, intensely annoying.

Time wasted.

The(ir) Blurb...

College boy, Doc is obsessed with a well-known NYC go-go dancer, nicknamed Go. He befriends his hunky crush with the intention of shooting a movie about what it's like to live in his skin. Camera in hand, he follows his subject across the city: into bars, onto rooftops and dance floors and ultimately his bedroom. But as they grow closer, flirtation blurs the line between subject and filmmaker until a steamy night together solidifies deeper feelings. Cory Kruekeberg's explicit directorial debut explores the thrill and danger of getting exactly what you wished for.
