Here's some advice - when writing dialogue, read it out loud, listen and if it sounds as if no-one in their right mind would ever say anything remotely similar to what you have written - then rip it up and start again.
That said - there really is a great little twist in this tale - so, brush up on the dialogue and you may even have a future in this fickle business.
