In a Whisper

Lilia returns to Tunisia for her uncle’s funeral and reunites with a family that knows nothing about her life in Paris, especially not about the woman she loves. Determined to confront her family’s secrets as they gather and old friends resurface for reminiscing, Lilia is reminded of why she left Tunisia in the first place and sets out to unravel the mystery of her uncle’s sudden death. Leyla Bouzid crafts an intergenerational tale of tenderness, love and secrets with hints of a detective story and playful formal elements that are peppered into this touching family drama.
