CGiii Comment
An astounding debut from Winslett and the springboard to what can only be called a remarkable career (thus far).
Sarah Peirse deserves particular credit - her homely, wholly natural performance makes the film what it is - really without her it wouldn't be half the film.
This is exceptional film-making by talents that went on to achieve the highest accolades.
Jackson's direction is as taut as the story demanded and the production designer should be congratulated for achieving the 50s.
A perfect film on the monstrosity of the teenage mind.
A wondrous achievement.
