CGiii Comment

Sweet, charming and tinged with an undercurrent of sadness throughout...

Pauline Collins shines in her dottage.

There is a comfortable and friendly playfulness with these seasoned professionals - Hoffman, obviously, gave them carte blanche...to do what they do best and he poked his camera in, here and there...it works a treat.

For a tale about geriatrics...the pace is brisk and, sadly, it's over before you know it.

It could have been just a little bit longer, possibly - still, it is a lovely, gentle and cheeky film...

The(ir) Blurb...

Cecily, Reggie, and Wilfred are in a home for retired musicians. Every year, on October 10, there is a concert to celebrate Verdi's birthday and they take part. Jean, who used to be married to Reggie, arrives at the home and disrupts their equilibrium. She still acts like a diva, but she refuses to sing. Still, the show must go on... and it does.
