A film that exposes...just the tip of the iceberg.

Eisenhower and McCarthy - those evil men - how many lives did they destroy? 1,000s, tens of 1,000s...this film is just a snippet of those dark, paranoid times. And, only stating facts...subsequent presidents maintained that hideous Eisenhower mantle...that is, until Clinton came along in the 90s! Better late than never! But...the damage had been done.

The Lavender Scare would have been best suited as a docu-series, these stories deserve to be told, need to be told, have to be told...this is what happens when [dubious] men [in power] go unchecked, they unleash their inner beast.

When it comes to persecution, Eisenhower and McCarthy were no better/no worse than Hitler...perhaps, a controversial statement...but, when you are one of the persecuted, it doesn't matter who the persecutor is...it's the same [vile] ideology with different packaging.

So...to all those naysayers who continue to rally against equality...the LGBT community has been persecuted for 100s of years...if the shoe was on the other foot, we would certainly know about it! It is our time to shine, our time to be valued, our time to know and feel our worth.

And, here's to you...Dr Frank Kameny, a man most deserving of high praise and profound gratitude. Without him...where would we be now? His story deserves a film of its own.

A mighty fine and important film...it just needed to be 24 hours longer! Tell those stories! And make those responsible, those perpetrators [along with their foul legacies] wallow in a rancid pool of shame.

The(ir) Blurb...

With the United States gripped in the panic of the Cold War, President Dwight D. Eisenhower deems homosexuals to be 'security risks' and orders the immediate firing of any government employee discovered to be gay or lesbian. It triggers a vicious witch hunt that lasts for forty years and ruins thousands of lives, while thrusting an unlikely hero into the forefront of what would become the modern LGBT rights movement.
